Reviewed July 202693+ points. The entry level bottling of Albariño from Eulogio Pomares’ Bodegas Zárate is made from vines that are thirty-five years of age located in the Val do Salnés, with the wine fermented with indigenous yeasts and given extended aging on its fine lees prior to bottling. The 2025 version offers up a deep and vibrant aromatic constellation of lime, tart orange, granitic minerality, a lovely touch of leesiness, lemongrass and a topnote of citrus zest. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and mineral-driven in personality, with a beautiful core of fruit, laser-like focus, a lovely girdle of acidity and a long, complex and impeccably balanced finish. This is great young Albariño and I cannot wait to taste some of Eulogio’s single vineyard bottlings from this vintage in the not too distant future!
