A strikingly beautiful, lifted and gorgeous Cabernet from Beatty Ranch, situated at 548 metres on Howell Mountain. Winemaker Joe Harden says the winery began working with grapes from the site in 2012, and it has the longest hang-time of any of their sites, typically harvested at the end of October. Leads with heady rose petals, juicy black cherry fruit, wild herbs, and capsicum. Focused and compact with a core of both crunchy red and softer, riper blackberry fruit, a hint of dark chocolate and flamed orange peel. Satiny tannins are super-polished, and the vintage's freshness is on display in every sip. (JC)
