2023 Dakota Shy "Atlas" Atlas Peak Cabernet Sauvignon
96
Vinous
Review Date: 11/2025The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Atlas is quite the powerhouse. Strong savory notes of black olive and earth join floral tones in a strong opening statement. Huge swaths of tannin wrap it all up in style. Readers should expect a potent, virile wine endowed with tons of structure. The 2023 is a gorgeous wine, but it is also a wine that requires a bit of palate adjustment, as it is quite savory relative to the other wines in the range. (AG)

Notes
Dakota Shy began in 2008 when Todd Newman started producing small lots of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with winemaker Tom Garrett. The partners built the winery on the lower slopes of Pritchard Hill after acquiring the site in 2014 and completing construction in 2017. The team now works with more than a dozen vineyard sources across Napa Valley, including sites in St. Helena, Rutherford, Oakville, Calistoga, Howell Mountain, Mount Veeder, and Atlas Peak. Production focuses on Cabernet Sauvignon made in small fermenters with detailed lot selection.
