The 2023 Riesling Schütt Smaragd comes from a cooler, ventilated site on deep gneiss deposits. The 2023 is astonishingly open for a barrel sample, spraying with tangy citrus, tangerine and lemon zest, crossing that yellow-to-orange spectrum of citrus. This wine exemplifies the estate: understated yet expressive with bright, lovely citrus. This is immensely juicy on the mid-palate, with much flow and expression of this riper year, reverting back to full zesty tanginess on the finish.
