Review Date: 08/2022One of two Allegrini wines making their debut on the Place de Bordeaux this year. From an 8ha vineyard at 415m. Richly scented on the nose with a beautiful nuance to the dark fruits, floral scents and sweet spices, all melding together. The texture is so appealing, rich yet smooth and silky, dominating the palate with the flavours of stewed blackcurrants, coffee beans, orange rind, slightly bitter medicinal herbs, juicy balsamic peppery fruit and a beguiling saltiness. It's enveloping in the best way, but still juicy and lively, really leaves a lingering impression on the palate, an absolute lifeforce. Tannins are on the chewy and grippy side, coating the mouth and tongue but the presentation of the flavours is so precise and detailed. This is amazingly good with excellent freshness throughout. 5% Oseleta completes the blend. Ageing 48 months in French oak barriques, 6 months in Slavonian oak. First vintage was 2011 with no 2014 made. (GH)

Notes
The 2015 Allegrini "Fieramonte" Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva (1.5L Magnum) is a monumental, benchmark expression of the region, hailing from a stellar, highly lauded vintage. Fieramonte is Allegrini’s crown jewel—sourced from a high-altitude, south-east facing hillside vineyard in Mazzurega (415 meters) where the deep, clayey-calcareous soils naturally buffer the vines against drought, ensuring remarkable depth and structural equilibrium. The blend is 45% Corvina Veronese, 45% Corvinone, 5% Rondinella, and 5% Oseleta. Following a meticulous 3 to 4-month appassimento process where the grapes lost over 40% of their weight, the wine was aged for 48 months in French oak barriques, blended for an additional 6 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, and given extensive bottle rest before release. In the glass, it shows a deep, intense ruby red color with subtle violet reflections at the rim. The nose is incredibly broad, elite, and highly complex, unfurling with rich, concentrated aromas of jammy figs, crushed blackberries, and preserved dark cherries, layered with warm undertones of sweet tobacco, coffee beans, cloves, and a striking graphitic, balsamic edge. On the palate, this magnum formatting beautifully preserves a vibrant, driving line of fresh, linear acidity that cuts through a massive, opulent core of dark fruit, cocoa, and sweet baking spices. The mouthfeel is dense, enveloping, and impeccably structured, framed by pronounced, fine-grained, chewy tannins
