While the estate shifted toward shorter extractions and a gentler infusion method to preserve freshness, this edition remains a massive, concentrated effort carrying 15.5% alcohol. In the glass, it shows an inky, opaque ruby color. The nose is highly explosive and exotic, opening with intense notes of blackberry jam, chocolate-covered prunes, and walnuts, counterbalanced by an unexpected floral lift of lavender and crushed rose petals, along with a distinct graphitic, flinty edge. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, potent, and muscular. It captures the natural, decadent exuberance of the southern Tuscan coast, packing a tight, concentrated core of black fruits, new leather, and sweet baking spices. The tannins are remarkably dense, firm, and grippy, revealing the dry chalkiness of the hot growing season on a long, highly structured finish.
