1964 Antoniolo "Santa Chiara" Spanna del Piemonte
Notes
Antoniolo emerged as a leading force in Gattinara in the mid 20th century, when Rosanna Antoniolo began revitalizing family vineyards at a time when much of Alto Piemonte was in decline. By the mid 1960s the estate was one of the few bottling its own Nebbiolo, pushing quality while many growers were abandoning terraces or selling fruit to co-ops. Their crus Osso San Grato, San Francesco, and Castelle began taking shape through careful replanting on volcanic porphyry soils that give naturally firm structure and high acidity. Low yields, handwork, and long macerations define production, with aging in large Slavonian oak to preserve purity.
