1967 Fratelli Francoli Spanna Riserva

Notes

Fratelli Francoli began in 1951 in Ghemme, where the Francoli family built a distillery that soon expanded into wine production rooted in Alto Piemonte’s traditional varieties. The estate focuses on Nebbiolo, Vespolina, and Uva Rara grown on the region’s ancient alluvial and morainic soils, which give naturally high acidity and fine tannins. Vineyard work emphasizes sustainable farming and careful canopy management to preserve freshness in this cool, ventilated zone at the foothills of Monte Rosa. Fermentations take place in temperature-controlled tanks, with Nebbiolo typically seeing longer macerations to build structure. Aging relies on large Slavonian and French oak casks to keep the aromatics pure. The wines show the lifted fruit and mineral drive that define Alto Piemonte.
