Review Date: 11/2018Rather richer deeper purple with a similar nose, perhaps a touch more concentration of dark red fruit. This actually has a lot of weight at the back of the palate, an excellent energy, the fruit easily wins out over both new oak and the little point of structure at the back.

Generous wood and menthol doesn't completely mask the cool and otherwise pretty aromas of essence of both red and dark currant, plum and violet scents. Interestingly the large-scaled flavors are at once more muscular yet finer while offering fine depth and persistence on the finish where the only nit is a hint of warmth.

The 2017 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru has a pastille-like purity on the nose, where morello cherries, orange blossom and crushed strawberry unfurl nicely with aeration. The cohesive palate is well-balanced with fine-grained tannins, nicely judged acidity and a grippy finish. It doesn’t want to come out and play today, but it has the focus and backbone to suggest it will drink well for a number of years. (NM)

Barrel sample. Mid cherry red. Prettily fragrant. Both red-fruited and lightly floral plus a light peppery scent. Such fine tannins and overall harmony even without particular intensity. Compact tannins and good length. (JH) 17/20
