2007 de Ferrand, St-Emilion (1.5L)
94
Wine Spectator
Review Date: 11/2009This is seriously dark, with bittersweet chocolate, braised beef, fig, tar and ground espresso notes leading the charge, while dark plum and currant fruit wait in the background. Cuts a broad swath on the muscular finish. Very backward, with a ways to go, this has harnessed more grip than most in this vintage. *Hihgly Recommended* (JM)

Notes
Château de Ferrand is perched on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, where shallow soils over bedrock define the terroir. The elevation and exposure provide good drainage and a naturally balanced growing environment. The result is a wine that reflects this Right Bank site with structure, freshness, and a clear sense of place.
