The 1997 Shiraz performed splendidly. This opaque purple-colored wine offers up plenty of sweet blackberry and cassis fruit with a touch of overripe cherries, smoke, and charcoal. This multidimensional, layered, luscious, low acid, toasty Shiraz is made in an obvious, fat, hedonistic style. (RP)
