he 2012 Chambertin Clos de Bèze is, not surprisingly, the most powerful and tightly-wound of Remoissenet's 2012 Grand Crus. At the same time, this is a fairly polished Bèze laced with high-toned floral notes and silky tannins. Rose petal, violet, red berry and spice notes leave a lasting impression on the finish. (AG)

Burghound

Review Date: 04/2014
very generously wooded nose frames very ripe yet wonderfully fresh and expressive notes of cassis, plum, black currant and a broad array of spice nuances. There is a highly seductive mouth feel to the velvet-textured, powerful and robust big-bodied flavors that display plenty of both muscle and minerality on the exceptionally persistent finish. As one might reasonably expect this will need plenty of cellar time and would not make an especially good choice for early consumption.

Notes

Remoissenet Père et Fils works with fruit from Chambertin-Clos de Bèze in Gevrey-Chambertin. The site’s limestone-rich soils and favorable exposure yield wines of both structure and depth. The result is a Grand Cru that reflects its terroir with power, balance, and a clear sense of place.
