Lean yet juicy, with lemon and green apple flavors buoyed by the vivid structure. Shows fine balance and length. (BS)

The restrained and equally pure nose offers up notes of smoky mineral reduction, floral, white peach and sea breeze that complement well the salty, intense and beautifully detailed flavors that exude plenty of minerality on the attractively dry, focused and impressively persistent finish. This is good stuff and I very much like the balance.

In contrast to the just bottled Beauroy, the 2014 Montmains was still in cuve and showing very nicely. The bouquet is bright and complex, wafting from the glass in a blend of green apple, a touch of fresh pineapple, chalky minerality, lemon zest and white flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and racy in personality, with a fine core, excellent mineral drive and a very long, racy and beautifully focused finish. Fine juice. 91+

The 2014 Chablis 1Er Cru Montmains was impressive from vat last year. Now in bottle, it delivers an attractive brine-tinged bouquet with fine mineralité tucked in underneath. The palate is well balanced with a slightly grassiness on the entry, finely balanced with a crisp citrus peel and oyster shell finish. All it might lack is just a little persistence on the aftertaste, although that should develop with time in bottle. (NM)
