1999 Maiden's Blend (Edrington Blend) 25 Year Old Single Sherry Butt #8 Blended Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Notes
Vintage Bottlers’ inaugural 25-year-old Maiden’s Blend is an ambitious and deeply considered project, marrying carefully selected parcels from across Scotland into a single cohesive vision, further elevated through a collaboration with artist Jim Moir, better known as Vic Reeves, whose distinctive artwork adorns the labels and packaging. The youngest spirit in this blend was distilled in 1999 and laid into a first fill sherry butt for a full quarter century. This single cask expression (#8) was bottled at 43.8% ABV, offering a softer, more approachable take on the broader blend concept. Word is these are casks lost within the transitions through the many stages of Edrington Group's blending operations. The nose opens with nuts and gentle spice, followed by a pleasant oily vanilla with time in the glass. The palate highlights classic Speyside sweetness alongside lightly smoky malt and a subtle thread of treacle toffee. The structure is more delicate but well integrated, with grain and malt working in harmony. The finish is shorter, offering nutty toffee and a whisper of peat smoke. A balanced and quietly expressive cask.
