1999 Maiden's Blend (Edrington Blend) 25 Year Old Single Sherry Butt #7 Blended Scotch Whisky (700ml)
Notes
Vintage Bottlers’ inaugural 25-year-old Maiden’s Blend is an ambitious and deeply considered project, marrying carefully selected parcels from across Scotland into a single cohesive vision, further elevated through a collaboration with artist Jim Moir, better known as Vic Reeves, whose distinctive artwork adorns the labels and packaging. The youngest spirit in this blend was distilled in 1999 and laid into a first fill sherry butt for a full quarter century. This single cask expression (#7) was bottled at 44.6% ABV, offering a more powerful interpretation of the broader blend concept. Word is these are casks lost within the transitions through the many stages of Edrington Group's blending operations. The nose is immediate and assertive, with a medicinal edge layered over dense cocoa butter and dark chocolate richness. With a bit of air or water, dark berries, nutmeg, and cinnamon emerge alongside a subtle honeyed sweetness. The palate is structured and intense, unfolding slowly with spice, fruit, and grain in balance. The finish leans drier, with pipe tobacco and gentle smoke fading steadily. One of the boldest casks in the lineup.
