Vintage Bottlers’ inaugural 25-year-old Maiden’s Blend is an ambitious and deeply considered project, marrying carefully selected parcels from across Scotland into a single cohesive vision, further elevated through a collaboration with artist Jim Moir, better known as Vic Reeves, whose distinctive artwork adorns the labels and packaging. The youngest spirit in this blend was distilled in 1999 and laid into a first fill sherry butt for a full quarter century. This single cask expression (#6) was bottled at 44.6% ABV, offering a singular take on the broader blend concept. Word is these are casks lost within the transitions through the many stages of Edrington Group's blending operations. What immediately stands out is the richness and composure. The nose opens with treacle toffee and toasted Brazil nuts, a dense, inviting profile that speaks to both quality wood and mature spirit. The palate is plush and velvety, built around nougat and soft confectionary sweetness, with a gentle thread of smoke and cereal grain keeping everything grounded. The finish carries that warmth forward, returning to toffee-laden richness with a soft glow. Four distinct barrels exist of this exquisite rare blend, each with its own personality.
