2002 Laurel Ridge "Reserve - Wirtz Vineyard" Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

Review Date: 12/2004

Generous and distinctive for its root beer and sassafras aromas and flavors around a core of black cherry and currant fruit that persists impressively on the firm-textured finish. (HS)

Notes

Laurel Ridge was founded by David and Susan Teppola, who purchased their Carlton property in 1974 and planted the first vines in 1980. The winery was formally established in 1986, drawing fruit from their Finn Hill Vineyard and the historic former Coury site that David had managed for years. The estate sits in what is now the Yamhill Carlton area, farming sustainably and producing Pinot Noir along with a broad mix of varieties. In 2001 the winery moved into its current facility on Kuehne Road, continuing the family’s focus on small lot Oregon wines shaped by the region’s cool climate and long growing season.
