The Wine Palate

The 2023 Mourvèdre is composed of 87% Mourvèdre with 13% Syrah, with 70% whole cluster used. Deep garnet-purple colored, it slowly emerges from the glass with opulent notes of blackberries, boysenberry preserves, and violets, plus hints of crushed rocks, tar, black olives, and fragrant earth. The full-bodied palate is so incredibly elegant and perfumed with fine-grained tannins and great tension, finishing very long and fragrant. Another Mourvèdre triumph for Andremily!

Made from 87% Mourvèdre from Alta Mesa and 13% Syrah from Slide Hill that was 30% destemmed and aged 21 months in 50% new French oak barrels and demi-muids, the 2023 Mourvèdre is killer stuff. Darker berries, pepper, violets, lavender, and gamey nuances all shine in this ripe, full-bodied, powerful effort. It's balanced, has ripe tannins, and a great finish.

The majority of the 2023s were tasted from barrel, and there are a couple of wines that could easily top out the scale, showing the combination of power and purity he’s become known for.
