Flat-out awesome, the 2023 No 12 is 91% Syrah, 7% Mourvèdre, and the rest Viognier, fermented with 40% whole cluster, from a mix of vineyards, and aged 22 months in 65% new oak. Blackberries, cassis, crushed stone, pepper, and spring flowers all emerge from the glass. It's a Côte-Rôtie on steroids and is full-bodied, has a deep, rich, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. The purity is sensational, and this riveting barrel sample has perfection written all over it. Don’t miss it.

The Wine Palate

The 2023 No. 12 is composed of 91% Syrah, 7% Mourvèdre, and 2% Viognier. Deep garnet-purple colored, it prances out with perfumed, showy notes of kirsch, wild blueberries, and juicy plums, giving way to nuances of violets, dark chocolate, and tar. The full-bodied palate delivers a rock-solid backbone of firm, ripe tannins and compelling tension, finishing long with exciting mineral sparks.
