2010 Jericho Canyon Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Notes
Jericho Canyon Winery rises from Calistoga’s wild northern reaches, where steep volcanic hillsides and the roar of Jericho Creek shape every cluster of fruit. Dale and Marla Bleecher seized the rugged 135-acre ranch in 1989, carving terraces into slopes too severe for tractors and committing to hand-farming and sustainable practices. Their 40 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Sauvignon Blanc yield tiny crops—often just a ton per acre—demanding dozens of micro-fermentations each vintage. By the late 1990s, winemaker David Ramey championed the vineyard’s power, and in 2006 the Bleechers completed their redwood winery and caves, enabling fully estate-made wines. Today, winemaker Nicholas Bleecher works alongside Aaron Pott and Michel Rolland to channel the canyon’s fierce terrain into concentrated, expressive bottlings.
