The 2023 Chardonnay Heritage is a classic Hanzell wine. Bold and effusive, the 2023 is super complex and dynamic, with layers of flavor that develop with time in the glass. Dried lemon peel, sage, mint, dried herbs, tangerine oil and chamomile infuse the 2023 with notable depth. Beams of acid support the long, clean finish. About 74% of the wine was done in stainless steel with no malolactic fermentation and aged for nine months. A second portion, 26% of the wine, was fermented and aged in barrel with full malolactic fermentation and aged for nine months. The two base lots were then blended and aged another nine months in neutral wood. (AG)
