Reviewed May 2026From a 2 hectare lieu dit called Les Pierres in Tournon. Echalas training, 30 year old vines. Destemmed. 18 months ageing in 600 litre barrels and wine globes. Spicy, meaty, peppery nose with some grip. Very stylish and expressive with a bit of grip here.

A bright, succulent and crunchy red with forest berries, warm spices, stones and hints of smoke on the nose. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. Linear and focused, with a silky texture. Plenty of character and drive, with a delicious, savory character and a long, stony finish.

Wine Advocate
The 2023 Saint-Joseph, produced from purchased fruit sourced from a two-hectare south-facing parcel at around 300 meters in elevation in the Tournon sector, was entirely destemmed and vinified in stainless steel with remontage before maturing in older demi-muids. It reveals aromas of licorice, violet and floral notes, with a subtle hint of chocolate. Medium- to full-bodied, juicy, round and fleshy, it’s built around a tannic framework that remains slightly firm, even austere at this stage, yet elegant and deep. (YC)

Vinous
The 2023 Saint-Joseph needs time to open up, gradually revealing ripe blackberry, dark plum and spicy traits. Subnotes of pencil shavings add mineral depth. Medium-bodied and smooth, the 2023 is a neatly-sculpted red Saint-Joseph that won't need much time to come around. Concludes with heightened precision and savoriness on the attractive finish. (NG)

The inaugural release of this wine. This is all fruit from Tournon, the heart and soul of deeper flavored St-Joseph wine where they are in good company with Jean-Louis Chave and Pierre Gonon. Sweet loamy fruit with savory spice. The classic bacon fat character looms in the background but should emerge more forward in a few years. Gorgeous potential!
