Planted in 1934, and never giving more than 20 hl/ha. Individual plants rest one year out of two sometimes. Tiny bunches. Fine lighter purple, the nose is a touch rustic, but the fruit on the palate has an impressive density and certainly persistence. Really attractive now and will gain weight with age.

Burghound

Review Date: 04/2019
A pungently earthy nose features notes of plum, dark berries, humus and the sauvage. There is a bit more refinement to the relatively sleek middle weight flavors that possess good richness on the sappy and ever-so-mildly austere finale where the only nit is a hint of warmth. This is really quite good and is a wine that could already be enjoyed though I would personally opt for cellaring it for a few years first as more depth should develop.

Notes

Blagny sits high on the slopes above Meursault, where elevation and a cooler, more exposed climate yield a later-ripening, more restrained style. The limestone-rich soils of the La Genelotte vineyard contribute precision and a pronounced mineral character. In the hands of Domaine Comtesse de Chérisey, the wine reflects this terroir with a focus on tension, purity, and classical balance.
