Shows singed cinnamon and warmed fruitcake notes that waft up, before a rush of dark blackberry and boysenberry compote flavors emerge. Reveals ample toast along the edges and a streak of black licorice that fuels the finish, with the dark fruit lingering as well. Packs more oomph than grace, but will have fans for sure. (JM)

The 2021 Pinot Noir Spire is a larger-scaled effort, marked by black cherries and mulberries on the nose, with a hint of wintergreen. This is rather big and fruity, medium to full-bodied and with a rich, layered texture. (JC)

The 2021 Pinot Noir Spire has an attractive nose of spiced black cherries, black tea, and minty herbs. It's medium-bodied and has a supple, elegant texture, good acidity, and plenty of length on the finish. It's a touch foursquare with its oak profile, but it's well done, if not outstanding, and offers plenty of pleasure.
