This delicious Mosel Spatlese makes you wonder why the wines of this category are stubbornly unfashionable. Cool and herbal, with plenty of spring flower character, this is a beautifully crafted wine with great precision on the medium-bodied palate. Extremely long, refreshing and precise finish that’s crystal clear. The natural grape sweetness is already beautifully integrated and is therefore unobtrusive. Drink or hold.

The 2023 Riesling Zeltinger Schlossberg Spätlese unites the ethereal scent of yarrow with fresh, tart red apple. The palate adds citrus aroma and zestiness, with lemon peel accentuating the herbal frisson and clementine adding vivid juiciness. This is beautifully balanced, totally serene and so elegant.(AK)

The 2023 Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Spätlese is not very clear on the darker toned and slightly volatile nose. Sweet and savory on the palate, this is a crystalline and finely grippy Spätlese without much substance, length or tension. Saline and with a good sharpness, the 2023 needs possibly more time to shine. 8.5% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted at the domaine in January 2026.(SR)

92pts Mosel Fine Wines: "AP: 23 24. The 2023er Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Spätlese was fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar. It initially presents a fine minty and herbal reduction, before revealing an intense smoky and fresh nose of lime, iodine, spices, tar, white minerals, stone fruits, and wet slate. The wine is playful and comparatively light-weighted on the delicately juicy and aromatic palate. The finish is slightly broader and smoother, yet the after-taste is full of freshness and precision. This is a superbly fresh Spätlese. 2031-2048."(12/2024)
