Reviewed January 2026Very mineral, very fresh, and very good, the Pucelles from Alvina Pernot offers a bright, lemon and gooseberry fruit with a salty edge and a hint of lees. The texture is lively, with medium body, abundant tension, and impressive length. Alvina's husband, Philippe Abadie, explains that they don't want the wine to be overly marked by the maturation, so they have used little new oak and have already bottled it. (CC)

From two sources. An attractive pale lemon yellow. This is more chiselled than rich on the nose, but develops significant weight through the middle of the palate as the riper fruit kicks in. I find that the two styles are complementary in 2024. A couple of fresh apricot notes, but overall a classical Pucelles.

The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru is the one cuvée that felt very reticent on the nose, suggesting that it will require more cellaring than its peers. The palate is very well balanced, lilting orange rind and Golden Delicious notes, the finish just a little backward at the moment. Let's see what it can do but patience required. (NM)
