Pronounced aromas of peach and passionfruit on the initial attack of Alvina Pernot's Chalumeaux lead into a lovely, creamy, supple texture and a lingering finish. The finesse and elegance of this wine in the 2024 vintage are astounding. Alvina's husband, Philippe Abadie, explains that the old vines (planted in 1956) suffer in hot years because there is only 10cm of earth on top of the limestone, so a wet year such as 2024 suits them well.(CC)
