This is an exceptionally light Pinot Noir on the nose and needs a bit of air to unfurl, but on the palate, it is immediately a pleasure palace. For such an ephemeral wine, it delivers remarkable flavour. There is an impressive depth of tart cherry fruit and clove, with Asian spices and tangerine peel. Wet-stone minerality builds on the sumptuously spiced finish. Mariah Vineyard in the Mendocino Ridge AVA is a Land to Market–verified regenerative vineyard. Purchased in the 1970s by Dan Dooling and Vicki Tomola, the site sits at 732 metres above Point Arena. This wine includes a blend of Pinot Noir clones Dijon 667 and Pommard, planted to Syrah rootstock (1103 Paulsen) in a combination of Hugo and Josephine loams over a well-drained sandstone-and-fractured-shale subsoil.
