Compelling vinous with reverberating tropical over tones, passion fruit and papaya sweep across the palate. Acidic tang, spicy fervor and youthful pizzaz give this outsized vigor. This northeast-facing vineyard was previously known as Vers Pouilly, prior to the Premier Cru designations.

A lively mid yellow with a green tint. Frédéric thinks this is more of a Pouilly style than Fuissé, more freshness, less depth and opulence. Similar ripeness with a touch of bacon, but much less immediate power. Huge concentration even so on the palate with a globe of fruit that I am sure will break down into many layers. A really complex finish. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted Jun 2025.

The 2023 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Reisses 1er Cru comes from more Pouilly than Fruissé soils, thin and stony on the upper part of the slope, around 0.75 hectares of vine. This has a more backward, tightly coiled bouquet with chalky scents infusing the yellow fruit, then hints of pressed white flowers. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, vibrant and poised with just a light reduction on the tensile finish. Edgier than the Les Vignes Blanches, this should age well in bottle.(NM)

Note: this used to be called Vers Pouilly; from a .75 ha parcel. A more restrained and slightly cooler if not as elegant nose of white orchard fruit, lemon-lime, anise and discreet wood influence that can also be found on the palate of the bigger, richer and more powerful large-bodied flavors that offer more depth and persistence if not nearly the same refinement. .
