Rain water, tangy yogurt, yellow grapefruit and bitter almond splash across the palate. Tight and tingly, the structure sizzles with intensity. Salty crunch on the mineral-tinged finish makes this a very gastronomic wine. This is frequently the wine in this line-up where I write the most descriptors, and that was true again this year. It's like fireworks on the palate!

The 2023 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Ménétrières 1er Cru has more mineralité than Les Vignes Blanches, more precision and focus, a slight fumé scent emerging with time. There is real intensity here and that translates across onto the palate. Wonderful weight, a killer line of acidity, slightly viscous in texture with a peacock's tail finish that is opulent but saline. Superb.(NM)

Note: from a .45 ha holding. Riper aromas are composed by notes of citrus confit, white peach, poached pear and enough wood influence to mention. The big, robust and even more powerful broad-shouldered flavors coat the palate with sappy dry extract before concluding in a driving and impressively long finish that is also supported by lemon-tinged acidity. Its reputation as the "Bâtard of the Mâconnais" is confirmed with this wine.*Burghound Outstanding!*
