Review Date: 01/2026The oldest vines of Château de Beauregard, on riparia, planted in 1948 on riparia rootstock by grandfather Joseph Burrier. The holding is just before the hillside turns to the west, high up on scree which is full of big stones, hence the presence of murgers. Clear crisp lemon and lime. Really lively limestone based nose. Superb crystalline intensity though with some south facing sunny intensity. Only white fruit, quite rich at the finish with adequate acidity. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted Jun 2025.

This wine has been made on its own as a separate cuvée since 2021, even though there are just two or three barrels a year from the 0.1250 ha. The nose sings with ripe citrus, donut peach and crushed stone minerality. The crispness of the site comes through in the glass—the vines site at 400 meters toward the top of Vergisson. These are the oldest vines of the Château, planted in 1947

The 2023 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Crays 1er Cru comes from a small 0.13-hectare parcel yielding just one or two casks, yet the vines are old, planted back in 1948 on Riparia rootstock. There is a dab of wood on the nose but that will assimilate with time, and there is real complexity here with impressive mineralité. The palate is energetic and tensile with hints of blood orange and quince, again some creamy new oak on the finish due to the small quantity, but just give this time because it is superb.(NM)

Note: from a .13 ha parcel of vines originally planted in 1949. Ripe aromas are comprised by notes of the essence of apple, passion fruit and discreet spice and wood nuances. The dense, rich and vibrant big-bodied flavors display both good detail and powerful while the lingering, citrusy and discreetly wooded finish is moderately dry. This well-made effort could be approached young but should be able to develop better depth with a few years of bottle aging. Worth checking out.*Burghound sweet Spot Outstanding!*
