Review Date: 01/2026These vines sit on the slopes behind the château, coming from four different lieux-dits. Interestingly, half of the malo was blocked here, giving an extra, citrusy verve to the palate. Grapefruit, hay and sliced pear give the palate clean depth and vibrant tension.

Half comes from the original Vignes Blanches, plus vines in Châtaigniers and l’Arzille. The soils are different, helping the blend to gain in structure. This has immaculate tension right from the start, white stone fruit, with a youthful bitter trace which I approve of, as it adds an extra dimension to what can be a little too seductive. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Jun 2025.

Note: from a 1.2 ha holding. Here there is just enough reduction to blur the nuances of the essence of pear and acacia blossom scents. There is a lovely sense of refinement to the delicious and vibrant, if not especially dense, flavors that do display fine delineation on the bitter citrus-inflected finale. As is usually the case, Vignes Blanches is a wine of finesse and one that should mature relatively quickly.

The 2023 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Vignes Blanches 1er Cru comes from 1.2 hectares of old vines planted around 50 years ago. This has an open and quite generous nose, somehow relaxed in style, with yellow plum, crushed stone and light nettle aromas. It is more neutral in style. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity and lanolin notes towards the finish. Though not long in the mouth, there is a residual pepperiness that is very appealing.(NM)
