Review Date: 08/2025The 2023 Viré-Clessé Quintaine was picked before the arrival of botrytis, which can infect the bunches in this particular village and create the Levroutée sweet wines. Nevertheless, you can still discern a touch of melted candle wax mixed with almond on the nose. The palate is well balanced with good density on the entry and hints of grapefruit, white pepper and mandarin on the finish. With fine underlying mineralité, this comes recommended.(NM)

Here too the ripe nose displays vaguely exotic aromas of white and yellow peach, apricot and lychee hints along with an equally deft application of oak. There is more size, weight and mid-palate density to the delicious medium weight flavors that are shaped by bright acidity on the lingering and balanced finish. This too would benefit from developing additional depth so 2 or so years of keeping should help.

Though the grapes are purchased, the Burriers run the vines from plots totalling 1.20ha. The preferred Burrier style is to avoid the late September fogs. They like to pick around 13%, to get the richness but not the rot. Good tension, though coming across with a slight bitterness. Drink from 2026-2029. Tasted Jun 2025.
