Review Date: 07/2023From 23-year-old vines, the 2021 Chardonnay Estate pours a bright straw hue and takes on more aromatic intensity, with gravelly earth, beeswax, lime leaf, and fresh apple. It offers fantastic intensity and energy on the palate, with linear feel, and is medium to full bodied. Revealing delicate oak spices and crunchy saline minerals on the finish, it’s mouthwatering for ages. This is one of the best Chardonnays I’ve tasted. (AF)

Old Wente clone Chardonnay, from Peay's coastal vineyards, sings of mineral intensity, with saline salt air and briny notes of grilled lemon peel. Using native yeast and a bit of battonage gives these lean wines texture. The silken mouthfeel augments the wine's lithe energy. Flavours of key lime, lemon curd, verbena, lemongrass, and oyster shell finish with crushed slate minerality.—7% new oak. (CP)

The 2021 Chardonnay Estate is such an elegant wine. Hints of tangerine peel, spice, mint, lemon confit and a touch of French oak all grace this vibrant, mid-weight Chardonnay from Peay. There’s marvelous, tension and focus. It’s all class and pedigree here. (AG)

The 2021 Chardonnay Estate has intense aromas of yellow apple, pastry, dried hay and almonds. The light-bodied palate begins with shimmery acidity and rocky tones before fleshing out to creamier, biscuity notes that accent its concentrated fruit, and it has a powerful, expansive finish that calls you back to the glass.
