I was able to taste four 2015s from winemaker Jason Moore. Starting with his 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Rocca-Collinetta Vineyard, this deeply colored effort (although it’s not completely opaque) is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that was brought up all in new oak. Reminding me of a top Saint Julien with its pure crème de cassis, tobacco leaf, damp earth, and lead pencil notes, it hits the palate with thrilling depth of fruit, medium to full body, and ripe, yet certainly present tannins. This is a beautiful, incredibly classy Cabernet that’s approachable today yet will cruise in cool cellars.
