2025 Domaine de Fondrèche Ventoux Rosé

2025 Domaine de Fondrèche Ventoux Rosé

90

Vinous

Review Date: 06/2026

The 2025 Rosé combines hints of petrol with mint and wet stones, forming a slightly savory bouquet. It's spicy within, with crisp orchard fruits elevated by an air of mint toward the close. A bump of juicy acidity enlivens the finish, as the 2025 tapers off fresh, leaving a crunchy mineral inflection. (EG)

There's this kind of raspberry candy on the nose that's really interesting, it unlocked some kind of memory for me, there's that with some white peach, wild strawberry, a little touch of some tropical. It's really an enjoyable nose that's drawing me in, and then the palate is a little wacky in the most enjoyable of ways. It's got this kind of fruit crescendo that at first sip, it's got some light fruit and more mineral and then it just gets more and more juicy with a pushing salinity that just emphasizes everything and then just a light little touch of tannin at the end that makes it have the slightest grip, it's crazy good and for this price might be one of my biggest go-to bottles this season.

Notes

Located in the foothills of Mont Ventoux lies the one of the top producers in the Ventoux region of the Rhone - Domaine de Fondreche. Vigneron Sebastien Vincenti took over the winemaking from his mother in 2005. With an eye toward biodiversity and using organic and biodynamic practices for many years, Fondreche was recently certified organic in 2022. The winery sits on a plateau comprised of alluvial soils (predominantly clay and gravel) with a sliver of Silex (AKA flint). The fruit for the rosé comes from vines on the sandier siltier soils just below the plateau. This cooler soil helps yield fresher brighter rosés. The 2023 rosé is comprised of 50% Cinsault, 30% Syrah and 20% Grenache from vines averaging 35 years-old. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tank it is then aged for 6 months in concrete tank on the lees before release.
