The Lafarge family’s bottling of Chiroubles hails from the single vineyard lieu à dit of Bel Air, which lies on the Fleurie border. Like all of their 2024s, this wine was completely destemmed this year. It offers up a lovely nose of red and black cherries, gamebird, a fine base of dark soil tones, a nice touch of brown spices and just a touch of youthful white pepper in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and tangy, with a fine core of fruit, good soil undertow and grip, just a bit of backend tannin and a long, complex and nicely balanced finish. This will definitely benefit from at couple of years in the cellar to let its tannins soften up properly. 2028- 2045.

Concentrated purple, lively fruit on the nose. Dark cherry, quite mouthfilling, higher acid. Peppery at the back, enough fruit to cover the structure. A blend of early picked Belair (8th) and late picked Cercillon (27th) to complete. An interesting blend which works, ripe fruit yet remaining fresh. Drink from 2026-2028. Tasted Oct 2025.

Notes

Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "Large, powerful, but with a finesse to the apparently crunchy clean fruit. A little softness at the edges, but also precision to the flavours. Faintly grained with tannin and deliciously mouth-watering flavours. Thats a beautiful wine – yes !!"(01/2026)
