The Lafarge family’s “regular” bottling of Fleurie is lovely in the 2024 vintage. The wine is quite classic in its aromatic and flavor profiles, offering up a complex nose of pomegranate, red and black cherries, pigeon, woodsmoke, a lovely base of granitic soil tones, woodsmoke and a topnote of violets. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, complex and focused, with a sappy core of fruit, fine soil signature and grip, modest tannins and lovely balance on the long and classy finish. Good juice, but like all of the 2024s from Domaine Lafarge-Vial, a few years in the cellar will really let the wine drink with true generosity. 2028-2050.
