The 2024 Fleurie “Jolie Palaïs” bottling from Domaine Lafarge-Vial is my favorite of their wines in this vintage. The bouquet is truly excellent, hopping from the glass in a youthful blaze of red and black cherries, plums, sweet cranberries, pigeon, a complex base of dark soil tones, a touch of nutskin, raw cocoa and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, complex and sappy at the core, with fine-grained tannins, excellent soil signature and grip and a long, balanced and very classy finish. This is really, really fine Fleurie! 2030-2060.
