Notes
The 2022 Tenute Silvio Nardi Rosso di Montalcino is a pure, succulent expression of Sangiovese Grosso. It is sourced from the estate's estate plots, utilizing a mix of fruit from the cooler Casale del Bosco vineyards in the northwest and the warmer Manachiara sector in the southeast. Following a long maceration, the wine was aged for 12 months in a combination of large French oak foudres and 500-liter demi-muids. In the glass, it shows a bright ruby color. The nose is highly expressive and fragrant, opening with savory wild herbs, rose petals, and crushed blackberries, laced with hints of vanilla and licorice. On the palate, the hot and dry conditions of the 2022 vintage manifest as a juicy core of ripe red and blue fruits, balanced by a fine, cooling acidity. The tannins are pleasantly chewy yet well-integrated, leading to a clean, spice-stained finish of medium length.
