2024 Le Chiuse Rosso di Montalcino
Notes
The 2024 Le Chiuse Rosso di Montalcino is a vibrant, "declassified" expression of Sangiovese Grosso (clone BBS11) from one of the region's most historic estates. Produced from younger vines (10–28 years old) on the cooler northern slopes, it is celebrated for its purity and high-toned freshness. It offers a classic aromatic profile of wild berries, sour cherries, and violets, underpinned by a distinct earthy minerality. On the palate, the 2024 vintage is characterized by its juicy acidity and silky, refined tannins, reflecting a year that required meticulous vineyard management to balance a hot summer with a cooler, rainy spring. Following the estate's traditional approach, it was fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and aged for approximately 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels. Released in its second year after harvest, this Rosso serves as a transparent, high-energy preview of the estate’s terroir, accessible much earlier than their more structured Brunello.
