2022 E. Pira Chiara Boschis "Via Nuova" Barolo
95
James Suckling
Review Date: 01/2026Outstanding for its pure savoriness on the nose, showing earthy strawberries, peonies, violet candies and restrained blood oranges. Intense. Relaxed on the attack but with firm, dusty tannins and crisp, slightly lifted acidity. The finish is tight and austere yet juicy and balanced. This deserves time for better integration. Try from 2029. (AF)

Notes
The 2022 E. Pira Chiara Boschis "Via Nuova" Barolo is a masterfully blended, organic expression that captures the breadth of the region by sourcing fruit from six distinct MGA sites across Barolo, Monforte d’Alba, and Serralunga d'Alba. The nose is exceptionally savory and floral, offering notes of earthy strawberries, peonies, orange peel, and crushed minerals. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and remarkably seamless, balancing ripe red fruit with finely polished, silky tannins and a refreshing acidity that belies the warmth of the 2022 vintage. While approachable early due to its harmonious structure, it possesses the "inner fiber" and balance to evolve beautifully in the cellar for 15+ years.
