The 1976 Sercial, a special release to celebrate the 250th anniversary of US independence, was aged in the "canteiro" system in oak casks at room temperature for almost 50 years. It's clear, crystalline and bright, with a golden topaz hue and golden reflections. It has an herbal nose with notes of yellow fruit and salted almonds. It comes in at 21% alcohol, with a pH of 3.15 and 65 grams of sugar. The palate is vibrant, with pungent acidity and a bittersweet twist in the finish. Only 192 bottles produced. It was bottled in 2025. (LG)

Cossart Gordon & Co. was established in 1745 and is the oldest company in the Madeira Wine trade. The family joined the Madeira Wine Company in 1958 and to this day, Cossart Gordon Madeiras are considered the most classic available.The 1976 Sercial was bottled in 2025 in a limited editon of only 192 bottles to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of te Delcaration of Independence. The wine is 21% alcohol by volume, with 9.6 g/L of total acidity, a pH of 3.15 and 65 g/L of residual sugar.
