Review Date: 01/2025Full but fresh ruby purple. There is a little more immediate fruit concentration here, a fresh raspberry. Caroline notes that they had to be very careful here on the deeper soil, but they managed the yield and this shows in the result here which is nicely disciplined, all in red fruit. Drink from 2029-2035. Tasted Nov 2024.

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Au Closeau 1er Cru (named after the famous inspector, according to my learned friend from The Wine Society) has a perfumed, licorice-tinged bouquet with gorgeous pure red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, beautifully balanced with a slight creaminess toward the finish. This is another 2023 from Drouhin-Laroze that is in a different league from the 2022.(NM)
