2023 Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru

Review Date: 01/2025Joyous as ever, this is ecstatically aromatic with rose petals, blueberries, lilacs and smoky spices. Layers of ripe red fruits pile onto the palate, focused by lacey tannins and some crunchy sea salt tang. Latricières certainly retained its freshness as the coolest Grand Cru in Gevrey, despite the hot vintage. The Drouhin-Laroze parcel measures 0.80 hectare, but about one-third has been pulled out for replanting.

Notes
Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "Half of this was replanted, but the first vintage with those young vines will be 2024 – so this is from their 60-70 year-old vines… All the grand crus see 80% new oak here – except Musigny, which is 100%. Larger scale perfume – some rose complexity here too. Open, so elegant and melting. Sappy again – that’s a lovely intensity. I love it – what a simply excellent grand cru !!"(01/2025)
