2019 Gaston Chiquet "Or" Brut Champagne

The 2019 Champagne Premier Cru Millesime Or Brut pours a bright golden/yellow color and has a clean, elegant feel. It's very fresh, with notes of pineapple, fresh candied pineapple, and hints of red berries underneath, offering lots of clarity and focus. Medium-bodied, it has tension, with elegant hints of creaminess and a stony texture that forms the backbone of the wine. (At a second tasting in New York, it also displayed a hint of warming spice, with nice, structured balance.) Refined and silky, it's great now, but I think it will be even better with a bit more time – it just has so much potential to cruise over the coming decades. Drink 2027-2045. A blend of equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, they don’t make this wine every year. Disgorged in October 2024 with 3 grams per liter dosage. 94+ (AF)
