Reviewed March 2025Called The Outsider because it's foot-trodden in cement tanks before ageing in demijohns, this is a low-intervention cuvée of Garnacha, 30% Tempranillo and 5% Pasera from three sites in Alfaro and Autol. Focused, floral and chalky, it’s savoury, black fruited and well balanced with tangy acidity and some underlying grip.

The darker and more serious 2023 El Outsider wants to recover the old cosechero reds, with 65% Garnacha, 30% Tempranillo and 5% white grapes that were foot trodden and fermented with indigenous yeasts. It has notes of wild berry fruit, herbs, flowers and an earthy touch. It has a medium-bodied palate with a juicy texture, rich flavors and fine, chalky, slightly dusty tannins that give it some rusticity. It has contained ripeness and 13.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.55 and five grams of acidity. (LG)
