Review Date: 04/2015A discreet touch of wood sets off the ripe and cool wild dark currant and pungent earth and humus scents that merge seamlessly into moderately rustic and vibrant medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by the well-integrated structure. There is also a bit of rusticity on the balanced and lingering finish and overall, this offers fine quality in the context of the appellation.

The 2011 Auxey-Duresses Villages has plenty of rustic red cherry and raspberry leaf aromas on the well-defined nose, the tinge here redder in hue compared to the lavish black fruit that lacquers the 2010. The palate is crisp on the entry with chalky tannins. There is a sense of rusticity veiling the 2011, unlike the 2010, which shows more panache and perhaps even more modernity. Still, it has an appealing firm structure on the finish that suggests it will age for several years. (NM)

Bright, transparent garnet. Pure, fresh, lots of fruit. Not much undertow but racy and neat with a dry finish. Redcurrant fruit and very light spiciness. Not for the long term perhaps but a very positive face of red burgundy. Very long. 17/20 points (JR)
