Review Date: 03/2026Based on 100% Furmint and aged two years in oak barrels (10% new, 90% older barrels), the 2017 Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos is a ripe, rich, seemingly mature effort that has a complex perfume of dried honey, caramelized orange, brioche, and spice. It's beautiful on the palate as well, with medium to full-bodied richness and a balanced, graceful, weightless mouthfeel. I love its integration of acidity and sugar, and it's hard to resist today. It should continue developing and evolving gracefully over the coming 15 years or more if well stored.

Notes
Disznoko means "wild boar stone" and was first recorded as a vineyard site in the 1400s. The Wild Boar Stone refers to the a large volcanic rock at the center of the vineyards. When communism fell in Hungary and vineyards were given back to the growers, AXA Millésimes (owner of Chateau Pichon Baron and Chateau Suduiraut among other properties) began acquiring parcels in 1992. They named the winery after these vineyards and have produced the golden nectar that is Aszu Tokaj ever since. The 6 Puttonyos is 100% Furmint. It took 3 passes through the vineyards to find the botrytised and perfectly dried berries to make this wine. Each lot of Aszu grapes began fermentation separately and then was added to the base wine to macerate for 60 hours. It then aged in 225L barrels for 2 years before bottling. Gorgeous flavors of acacia honey, apricot and pear blossom are just a few things to note while tasting this long and all consuming dessert wine. Residual Sugar: 177 g/L
