The 2023 Purple Hands Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley spent 10 months in 25% new French oak and incorporates 25% whole cluster, drawing depth and complexity from the old marine sediment soils at the base of the Coast Range. In the glass, it shows a gleaming medium ruby core edged by a vivid pink rim. Aromas of damp moss, dried porcini, and black tea rise from the glass, layered with a faint mineral intensity that evokes crushed basalt. On the palate, flavors of black cherry skin, roasted red plum, and smoked allspice come through with density and clarity.
